Pro-Active Parents in Partnership and Participation
The TGPA’s purpose is to encourage and facilitate interaction between parents and the schools as well as raise funds for the College and the Prep with special emphasis on the needs of boarders.
Whatsapp Dorm Groups: We would like to encourage all parents to join the dorm Whatsapp groups by sending an email to their house rep with their number.
Opportunities for Interaction
The TGPA hosts a number of regular functions during the year which are designed to give parents the opportunity to hear from the school heads and to chat informally with the headmasters and teachers.
Interactive AGM & New Parents Meeting
This is an AGM with a difference – informal, informative and to the point. The College and Prep Headmasters give a quick review of the year and answer questions and new parents are welcomed to the School along with their children.
Social Fundraisers
During the year the TGPA organizes one or more fun, fundraising activities, including live shows, quiz evenings and golf days as well as our regular, ongoing fundraiser, the Treverton Wish List Club.
The Treverton Wish List Club is aimed at creating a home-away-from-home environment for our children. The “Wish List” funds all the nice little extras in the Boarding Houses to make them more comfortable. Each year the TGPA gives each boarding House a voucher for the children and Houseparents to choose nice-to-have items in dorm. Items purchased in the past include table tennis tables, flat screen TV’s, a tumble dryer, dart board, board games etc. ALL the boarders benefit, whether you are from KZN, Gauteng, Swaziland, Botswana, Zambia, UK or USA don’t delay and support the Treverton Wish List Club. The TGPA runs two services for the benefit of the parents and children.
The Parcel Service
The parcel service coordinates the sending of parcels with parents going down during term time. It is specifically for those small forgotten items or unexpected treats. No bikes, trunks, horses etc. Just small parcels that are easy to fit into a family sized car!
The cost is R30.00 per packet (money goes into the fundraising kitty).
Please let us know when you are going down to Mooi River in order for the parcel service to work efficiently.
Gauteng Bus Duty
Please allow for the heavy afternoon traffic when judging your arrival time and remember that the teachers who accompany your children still need to make the return trip back to school.
It is the responsibility of the parents to clarify departure and arrival times. Bus cell is 082 583 9145 or phone the school secretary on 033 263 1251. The bus arrives and departs from the Rosebank Union Church, cnr William Nicol Drive and St Andrews Road, Hurlingham.
Committee Contact Numbers
Chris van Alphen is the Chairperson of the TGPA (Treverton Gauteng Parents Association). We are a small committee of parents who each fulfil an essential function to ensure that we maximize communication between the Parents and the School and for fundraising for the benefit of our children in boarding. We meet every second month in Gauteng and encourage you to come and discuss your ideas with us in a social atmosphere.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING ALL NEW PARENTS!
